Red Iron Building Insulation Options

ProSpan Steel offers two high-performance insulation options to improve your structure's energy efficiency. The proper insulation can reduce the presence of moisture, lower interior temperatures, and make your structure significantly more comfortable to inhabit.

Insulation Options from ProSpan Steel

When you order a building from ProSpan, you’ll have the ability to add several insulation options during the customization process:

Woven Reinforced Fiberglass Blanket Insulation

Woven fiberglass insulation features a formidable white vapor barrier facing that creates a clean, finished interior look. This blanket insulation is available in R-values ranging from R-10 to R-25 and beyond and is helpful for a wide range of applications and climates.

Banded Insulation System

For buildings that demand higher thermal performance, banded insulation is a premium upgrade that works well. It uses two layers of fiberglass blanket insulation to deliver higher R-values and is an excellent option for climate-controlled environments.

The Cost of Insulating Red Iron Steel Buildings

The average price to insulate a red iron building will vary depending on the insulation type, the size of your structure, and your region’s climate:

Fiberglass Roll Insulation
  • Material Cost: $0.65- $2.00 per sq. ft.
  • Installed Cost: $1.50- $4.00 per sq. ft.
  • R-Value Range: R10- R25 or Higher
  • Best for: Smaller and lightly used buildings in moderate climates
Banding Insulation System
  • Material Cost: $1.25- $3.50 per sq. ft.
  • Installed Cost: $3.00- $7.00 per sq. ft.
  • R-Value Range: R19- R38 or Higher
  • Best for: Larger spaces such as warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and agricultural buildings.

Do you have questions about our insulation options? Below, we've answered some of the most common ones we receive:

Red Iron Building Insulation FAQs
What's the difference between blanket insulation and the banded insulation system?

Blanket insulation is a single-layer system installed between the framing and exterior panels, while the banded insulation system uses double-layer fiberglass blankets supported by steel bands. Both are great options, but banded insulation offers higher R values.

Which insulation option is best for cold climates?

Our banded insulation system is the best option for cold climates due to its higher R-values that help minimize heat loss through continuous coverage.

Can I use blanket insulation in a heated building?

Yes, woven reinforced fiberglass blanket insulation can be used in heated buildings, but it's more suited for mild to moderate climates.

What R-value should I choose for my metal building?

The ideal R-value depends on your climate and building use. For basic storage or agricultural use, R-13 to R-19 may suffice. For conditioned or climate-sensitive spaces, aim for R-25 to R-30+.

Does the banded system meet energy code requirements?

Yes, the banded insulation system is often used in buildings that must comply with strict energy codes because of its higher R-values and effective thermal performance.
